approx. 50,000BCE-30,000BCE – Age of Atlanton - Civilization of Atlanton flourishes on Earth, possibly due to uplifting by alien visitors or self-organizing thoughtforms known colloquially as “gods.” First Heroic Age, time of myth, legend and great deeds. Rise of the first King Arthur. Around ~30,000 BCE civilization disappears overnight, as if erased from history.
approx 15,000BCE - founding of The Aurian Federation when sixteen species sign the Charter of Galactic Rights and declare their opposition to the slave-lords of Manachaeos.
approx. 4,000BCE-1,000BCE - Second Heroic Age. As mankind spreads after Ice Age, pantheons of Ur, Egypt, Greece, Indus and others coalesce as self-organizing high-energy thoughtforms from collective cultural unconscious of far-flung nascent civilizations, offering guidance and access to rudimentary science and sorcery. Strong evidence of metahuman activity in this era (cf “Gilgamesh,” “Herakles,” “Coyote”) and rapid social development abruptly ends around 1000BCE, concurrent with large observed drop in estimated global population and median level of civilization. Nature of global disaster remains unclear.
approx 550 - Germanic chieftain and culture hero outwits and slays stranded Manacheos light battle organism and its bio-ship, struggle is subsequently immortalized in verse and song.
1865-1910 - Struggle for control of American West. New rise in masked hero activity, including folk heroes and outlaws such as Lone Star, the Prairie Ranger, and Leatherfoot.
1880 - The Great Detective opens private practice in London.
1928 - Celebrity scientists, industrialists, and humanitarians Doctor Abraham Atlas and Adam Nova announce invention of “peace ray,” designed to subdue combatants without harm.
1929 - Doctor Atlas and Adam Nova end rash of Thuggee cult kidnappings in rural India. Market crash; Great Depression begins.
1930 - Tragedy is averted when the crashing R101 dirigible is saved by a mysterious caped figure. Many more such rescues are reported in subsequent years. Doctor Atlas and Adam Nova declare “war on the Depression.”
1931 - Doctor Atlas and Adam Nova feared dead after disappearance in subterranean underworld, but return safely with peace treaty signed by underworld natives.
1932 - FDR elected president. Construction begins on Atlas Plaza. Doctor Atlas makes contact with non-Earthly dimension. Adam Nova announces work on “final solution” to world conflict as war breaks out in South America between Bolivia and Paraguay, and between Colombia and Peru.
1933 - Doctor Atlas and a team of vigilantes smash right-wing coup plot against FDR. Adam Nova moves out of Atlas Plaza, citing “need to expand operations.”
1934 - Adam Nova invades South America with 200-man mercenary army and force of steam-powered robots armed with “peace rays.” After conquering and securing a resource-rich sector of the interior, he declares sovereignty for “Tierra Nova” and announces intention to create model Utopian society. Doctor Atlas issues public statement to the effect of “Adam’s goals are laudable but he has gone too far. I pray he can see that before it’s too late.”
1935 - Work begins on Metropoli, new capital of Tierra Nova.
1937 - Adam Nova orchestrates break-in at Atlas Plaza; the two men fight nearly to the death on the rooftop of the building. It is the last time they will see each other for six years.
